As stated in the DX promotion guidelines of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, "Companies should respond to drastic changes in the business environment by utilizing data and digital technologies, to establish a competitive advantage by transforming products, services, and business models, as well as transforming the business itself, organizations, processes, corporate culture and culture, based on the needs of customers and society." As outlined in that statement, companies are being pressured to adapt to the changes in business environments in order to stay ahead of the competition.

Vital DX Goals and Challenges Faced by Companies

According to DX Report 2 from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in order to promote DX and progress toward a digital society, it is necessary to break away from the legacy corporate culture. This means that as a digital company, certain processes should be followed to establish business reform within the corporation that will allow it to quickly respond to any and all circumstances. As an IT vendor that promotes DX, Primagest focuses on company workflow and, in recent years, has advocated for changes in paper and digital processing. Within this field, we've derived that one solution to this issue is digital and analog hybrid processing.

Paperless efforts are being promoted around the world with much progress being made in digitizing paper processing to data processing. Companies can now review their operations by incorporating the latest technologies such as AI, and it would seem that automation can be achieved with little to no problems. However, reality is not as simple and there are multiple barriers.

In the digitization of business operations for example, most operations have not become completely paperless and contact points have to be divided into analog and digital channels, resulting in an increasingly complex internal workflows and systems. Ultimately, for some businesses, it was more convenient to use paper-based processing, while other businesses simply process too little to bother investing in a new system. Under such circumstances, there are also issues such as whether to create an all-purpose system that takes paper-based operations (compatible with analog channels) into account or to introduce IT at low cost.

When automating business operations, even with the help of AI, automation does not always proceed as expected, such as the improvement of character recognition rates by AI-OCR not being as effective as expected. It can also made reducing costs difficult as the use of new technologies is expensive. The ineffective implementation of the latest AI technology, which lowers the overall impact of the technology, is one of the reasons for the high costs. Taking AI-OCR as an example, one of the main issues is how to generate high-quality clean data as improving the recognition rate will be impossible until data is cleaned up before the character recognition process begins.
